Fox caught in dawn light
Frosty Dawn
11/11/2019
Not long ago, I demonstrated pastel drawing for a very appreciative group,
the Nicholas Park WI in Nuneaton, and I drew them a fox in a frosty background.
They enjoyed seeing the warm colours of the fox emerge from the
cool background, but I explained that I often try out work in several different
media, and would probably try the theme in paint.
Since then, I have worked out the idea further in acrylic, and feel happier
with the results.
I saw the captive fox in the British Wildlife Centre in Surrey last year, but
imagined it returning from hunting at dawn on a very frosty morning, with
the early dawn light catching it in a spotlight, giving me the chance to make
a contrast between cool and warm colours.
