Glimpsing deer through the trees
Autumn's glorious colours
29/11/2016
Last month I visited Cannock Chase in Staffordshire again, along with friends from The Wildlife Art Society, and we enjoyed a day of lovely sunshine.
The autumn colours in the trees were glorious, with the added bonus of many fungi and fruits, and we were able to see a number of fallow deer, glimpsed through the trees and bushes.
I also saw much of the same colours on a visit to the Highlands of Scotland, and used all the reference to put into my latest paper cut, "Birchwood", though in this instance I used a roe deer stag.
As usual I was trying to distill many of the colours, shapes and wildlife that I saw into one "story" of the wood, and used different levels to introduce plenty of distance into the image.
