Coasting Curlew on the beach
Curlew and seaweeds
12/06/2018
I've recently been developing some more paper cuts, including one based on a curlew
that I watched on a remote beach in Scotland last autumn.
The curlew was amongst other wading birds on the strand line as the tide came in,
and I liked the idea of using the bird, with the masses of seaweeds creating interesting
patterns on the rocks around it.
This was quite a small paper cut, only about 200mm square, compared with the larger
paper cuts I've made before, but this small size seems to lend itself to the idea,
and I may make a series of this size.
I used mixed media, watercolour and some touches of coloured pencil.
