Last week I spent the day at Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust
in Gloucestershire, with fellow wildlife artists from The Wildlife Art
Society International.

We had a good day watching the birds around the many hides there, and
I was delighted to watch a kingfisher for quite a long time, probably the
longest sighting of one that I have enjoyed, as often the only thing you see
is a swift blue flash as one goes by!

This was a male kingfisher, and wasn't currently fishing or feeding young,
but hopefully may be involved with a second brood very soon.

Such a beautiful bird is very paintable, and I'm sure I shall be depicting
one in some work in the future.
